Edward Dawson Obituary


Edward Dawson Jr. Edward Herbert Dawson Jr., "Ed", 77, of Crofton, previously of Camp Springs, died June 7 at Anne Arundel Medical Center of natural causes.

Born Sept. 28, 1932, New York, N.Y. He graduated from St. Paul's High School, Garden City, N,Y. and was a graduate of the Class 1954 USNA, Annapolis. He was a Lt. Cmdr. Naval Aviator. Vietnam Veteran, personal pilot to CNO of the Navy Adm. Elmo Zumwalt Jr. He was preceded in death by one sister, Marilyn Tufano.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor "Elle" Dawson, who he married in 1955; one son, Edward H. Dawson III, of Moorestown, N.J.; one daughter, Debra Ardan Christian of Colorado Springs, Colo.; seven grandchil-dren, Ashley Valone of Ft. Myers, Fla., Annelie Large of Colorado Springs, Colo., Ivan Ardan of Birmingham, Ala., Danielle Ardan of Colorado Springs, Colo., Edward Dawson IV of Moorestown, N.J., Alexander Dawson of Moorestown, N.J., Catherine Dawson of Moorestown, N.J. and two great-grandchildren, Sierra Valnoe of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Bailey Large of Colorado Spring, Colo. Funeral will be held Thursday June 10, 1:30 p.m. at St. Andrews Chapel US Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD Interment at a later date at USNA Columbarium. Ed and I met on the Baseball field our plebe summer. He was a great player and a great friend and thankfully he is now with his Lord and Savior.
