Death of A Classmate - John Scott Brennan , 24th Co.



John Scott Brennan, 80, passed away Friday, May 27, 2011 in his home at Bishop Spencer Place. He was preceded in death two years ago by his wife of fifty years, Mary Jo. They lived most recently in the Plaza area, but raised their two children, Scott Brennan and Shea Coleman, at Lake Quivira, KS. Survivors also include their five grandchildren. John Scott was a commercial real estate broker for many years, serving as a Vice President and Partner at Cohen- Esrey, and later at Prudential CRES Commercial Real Estate. He was active in the Rotary Club of Kansas City, an avid tennis player, and literacy program volunteer. Prior to his career in real estate, John Scott was a naval officer, graduating from the United States Naval Academy in 1954, and serving tours in the South China Sea. He resigned his commission in 1966, with the rank of Lt. Commander. He attended the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterrey, CA, and earned a Master's in Public Administration from the George Washington University in Washington, DC. John Scott was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he attended Judge Memorial High School and started for its state champion football team. A gathering of friends and family will be from 9:30-10 a.m., Wednesday, June 1, at Visitation Catholic Church, 5141 Main Street, in Kansas City, MO, with Catholic Mass following at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association of America, P.O.
