Will: Sad news this morning. William J. "Joe" Roach, ( 13th Co.) died last evening in Daleville, VA. Age 83. He had been ailing and mostly bedridden for more than a year, was in great pain and mental faculties affected. His loving and devoted wife Lucy tended him faithfully night and day, and I will always take shame that I had not paid him a visit last week, as my wife and I had briefly mentioned. He had six children, one daughter living nearby in Botetourt County, others scattered across the country. He was on the football and wrestling teams, was a wrestling teammate of mine. Retired as LTC USAF, flew many C-130 combat air missions under fire in VN. A great guy, always ready with a laugh and a funny story, will miss him greatly.
