Death of a Class Wife - Peggy Wildman

Marguerite D. Wildman, known to her family, friends and colleagues as "Peggy", died in Williamsburg, Virginia on November 11th, 2013. She was born on July 27, 1940 in Waco, Texas, the daughter of Rear Admiral Joseph E. Dodson and Mary Manton Dodson. Admiral Dodson's naval assignments took the family to numerous locations in the States, including California, Ohio, New Jersey and Washington, D.C.

Mrs. Wildman graduated from the Bishops School of La Jolla, California in 1957.  She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Goucher College in Baltimore, MD in 1961.

On May 19, 1962, she married John Broughton Wildman in Dayton, Ohio. Lt Wildman graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1954 and the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA where he earned his Masters in Management. He is a member of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots and the Association of Naval Aviation.

Her son, John B. Wildman, Jr. survives her and her daughter, Katherine A. Wildman-Berry, died in Paris in 2003. John's wife, Deirdre and Katherine's husband, Geb Berry, also survive her.  In addition, she is survived by her beloved grandchildren, who brought great joy to her life.  They are Kelsey, David, and Michala Wildman and Mireille and Savannah Wildman-Berry.

Mrs. Wildman was a life-long volunteer, devoting many hours to her favorite causes.  Shortly after moving to Williamsburg she began volunteering at the Olde Towne Medical Center with the Medication Assistance Program, doing so for five years.  The program provides needy patients with medications obtained through various pharmaceutical companies.    In the late 1990's she was named to a committee for James City County, which was tasked with rewriting the Zoning Ordinances for Commercial, Business and Industrial Zoning.  That committee was presented the Virginia Citizens Award for 1996 as a result of their efforts.  In January of 2000, she was appointed to the James City County Planning Commission as the representative from the Jamestown District where she served for seven years.  She was also very much involved with the rewrite of the James City Comprehensive Plan for 2003.

Interment services for Mrs. Wildman will be held at the Columberium at the United States Naval Academy, where she will be laid to rest at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to either the Olde Towne Medical Center or the Williamsburg Land Conservancy.
