Richard Harvey Childress, 84, USNA Class of 1954, died peacefully at his home in Haile Plantation, Gainesville, Florida Monday, October 24, 2016. A service in his honor will be held Saturday, October 29th at the chapel at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home, 404 N. Main Street, Gainesville beginning at 10:30 am. The family will be receiving family and friends at the funeral home from 10 am. Following the service, the family will host a celebration in his honor at Fresco in Haile Village Center beginning at 12:30 pm. He will be laid to rest at the Lawrenceville City Cemetery, Lawrenceville, Illinois with graveside rites. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to a deserving charity.
