May Poem from our Class Poet

"When the new May month flaps its glad green leaves like wings"
-- Hardy, "Afterward"
The little tree we planted
Is greening, in full leaf--
Its heartiness belies a time
Of mourning-bands and grief.

Our gardens burst with color,
Azaleas are in bloom,
A glorious Spring leaps joyfully
Out of its Winter tomb.

Thank God for buds and flowers!
Thank God for warmth in May!
Let hearts once frozen in despair
Enjoy this blessed day!
