“The Beautiful and Tenacious, Joan King”... those are the words used to describe our mother in a card and flowers sent by my girlfriend; and that is how I will always remember her. DONATIONS
In lieu of flowers, we are asking that donations be made in the memory of Joan King to either of the two organizations below:
Spirit Open Equestrian –
This is an organization that my mother helped me to become involved, and where I ended up donating my horse “Infiniti” (or “T” for short). “T” is now enjoying her new job as a therapy horse for children (and young adults) that are physically and mentally challenged. To see these kids in action makes one realize their own true blessings while marveling at the physical and emotional benefits that a large animal can bring to such young and courageous individuals.
You can either visit the website or mail in a donation. (**be sure to specify: In memory of Joan Z. King)

Naval Academy Foundation –
When my father passed in 1982, my mother helped carry on his legacy on the Board of the Naval Academy Foundation. This organization was near and dear to both of my parents. The Foundation ultimately provides assistance to perspective applicants in pre-entry to the Naval Academy and/or Naval Academy Prep School. It also helps facilitate leadership and recognizes Midshipmen that are accomplished both academically and athletically. You can either visit the website or mail in a donation. (**be sure to specify: In memory of Joan Z. King, spouse of Capt. Richard B. King, USNA Class of 1954**)
The Naval Academy and the classmates from 1954 were very special part of our parents’ lives; for that reason, our lives (Christopher, John, and I) are ever more enriched because of it.
