Death of a Classmate Edwin Faraday Phillips, 14th Company


Edwin Faraday Phillips, 77, went to his eternal reward on Saturday, March 22, 2008.

Edwin was a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and was assigned to Langley AFB, Va. He resigned from the Air Force in 1957 and pursued a career in naval architecture and marine engineering. Ed established his own business in the Galveston-Houston area and was responsible for the restoration of the USS Battleship Texas, which is managed by Texas Parks and Wildlife. Before retiring in 1997 he was employed by American Bureau of Shipping as a senior engineer.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alberta and Edwin Jesse, brother Arthur and sisters Ann and Maxine.

Left to cherish his memories is his wife of 55 years, June, son, Eric Phillips and wife Barbara of Lake Charles, LA and daughter Dr. Cherie McCollough of Corpus Christi, TX. Also included are his grandchildren, Jennifer, Scott and Anne Marie McCollough. Also David Phillips, Erica Byer and Elizabeth VavEmst and four great-grandchildren. Also a brother Alan of Jacksonville, FL

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at Crowder Funeral Home, Dickinson, TX from 5:00PM to 8:00 PM with Rosary beginning at 7:00 PM. A Reqium Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Queen of Angels Roman Catholic Chapel, 4100 Hwy 3, Dickinson, TX. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

The family would like to extend special thanks to The Cottages of Clear Lake and to the care received from A-Med Community Hospice, Texas City, TX.,

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Queen of Angels.
