Obituary for Thelma Hill Baker, wife of Jim Baker , 12th Co.


Thelma Hill Baker, age 75, died Saturday, Jan 1, 2011 in Houston, TX of Inflammatory Breast Cancer.  For the last three years she was treated at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.  She resided in Stillwater, OK.  She was born Oct 11, 1935 in Hillsboro, WV to Lucy and Clinton Hill.  She graduated from Hillsboro, WV High School as Valedictorian and from the Charleston, WV School of Nursing.  She then earned the BS Degree in Nursing from The University of Dayton, Dayton, OH. She was greatly loved and respected as wife, mother and friend to everyone.  Words cannot express our loss. She was an accomplished quilter and a member of both the Central Oklahoma Quilter’s Guild in Oklahoma City and the Cimarron Valley Quilter’s Guild in Stillwater.  She is survived by her husband of 53 years, James E. Baker, PhD, their daughter Karen Voorhees of Kingwood, TX, their son Kurt Baker of Schaumburg, IL and grandchildren, Elizabeth Voorhees, Hannah Voorhees, Garrett Voorhees and Chris Baker.  A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the Stillwater First United Methodist Church.
