Death of a Classmate Lt. Col Stanley Joseph Frick

Lt. Col Stanley Joseph Frick, US Army, ret., passed away Saturday, August 13, 2011 at a local hospital. He was born in Boston, MA, and lived in Bay county since 1971. Col. Frick was a graduate of Towson Catholic High School in Maryland. He served in the US Navy, attended the US Naval Academy and then began his career with the US Army, retiring after 22 years at the rank of Lt. Colonel, serving during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. Col. Frick flew fixed and rotary wing aircraft, and served as an artillery officer. He was awarded the Bronze Star, 60 air medals, the Legion of Merit, Sr. Army Aviation Badge, and the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism in Vietnam. After retirement, Col. Frick enjoyed traveling, golf and video poker. He was a faithful parishioner at St. Dominic's Catholic Church where he served as an usher and Eucharistic Minister, and was a Member, past President and Navigator of the Knights of Columbus. Col Frick also was a member and past President of the Retired Officers Association.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Annalee M. Frick; his son, Michael S. Frick, Rear Admiral, US Navy, ret., and his wife, Lisa of Fairfax, VA; a daughter, Debra A . Frank and husband Daniel of Lake Jackson, TX; 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

A funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 AM Thursday, August 18, 2011, at St. Dominic's Catholic Church with Fr. William Brown officiating. Interment with full military honors by the US Army will follow at Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, August 17, 2011, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm with a Rosary service at 7:00. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Col. Frick's name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
