Death of a Classmate - Charles W. Bart Bartholomew



Charles W. Bart Bartholomew, 81, died Saturday, April 21, 2012, in Rolling
Meadows Healthcare, Lafontaine. Born: He was born in Lehigh, PA on June 8,
1930 to the late Eugene and Anna Sandt Barth. Personal: He married Diane
Pogue on August 28, 1971, and she survives. Charles was a 1954 graduate of
the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis and retired as Commander of the U.S.
Naval Reserve. He also retired from Thompson Consumer Electronics where he
worked as a purchasing agent. Charles was a Ham Radio Operator/Instructor
and went by the call letters WA9SPT. Memberships: He was a member of the
Lafontaine Lions Club, Marion Civic Theater, the Fairmount Post of the
American Legion, and the Marion First Christian Church. Survivors: his wife,
Diane Bartholomew of Marion; children, Dr. Chuck Bartholomew, Kokomo, Daniel
Bartholomew of Davisberg, MI, Marco Bartholomew of Bloomington, Christian
Bartholomew of Highland, and Gigi and Jeff Doubrava of Olathe, KS; six
grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by
his parents, Eugene and Anna Bartholomew; and sister, Doris Moore. Service:
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at
Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave.,
Marion, IN. Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 26 2012 at
Marion First Christian Church, 1970 N. Wabash Ave., Marion, IN with Reverend
David Mills officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, Huntington
County, IN. Memorials: contributions may be made to Marion First Christian
