Death of a Classmate - Maurice Huffer, 7th Co

 
MAURICE WAYNE HUFFER of Jackson passed away under the loving care of his family and the staff at the Allegiance Hospice Home on Thursday, August 29, 2013, age 82 years. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy; three daughters, Dorothy (Dale) Brown, Maureen (Kyle) Landis and Charlotte (Mike) Grejtak; two grand-children, Wayne Brown and Anna Grejtak; brothers and sisters, Nola Elliott, Ellen Robertson and Robert (Thelma) Huffer; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond, Orion and Lawrence. Maurice served in the U.S. Navy following graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1954. He retired from Gilbert Commonwealth in 1987 after many years of service. When he was not involved in family events, Maurie enjoyed gardening and traveling. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Queen of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church on Monday at 10:30 AM with Father Timothy MacDonald officiating. Private interment will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta. The family will receive friends at the Desnoyer Funeral Home on Sunday from 5 to 8 PM with a Vigil Service at 7 PM. The family will also receive friends at the Church on Monday from 10:00 to 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers contributions to Allegiance Hospice or to Queen's Church would be appreciated.
