Death of a Classmate - Thomas H Millen - 15th Co.

I received the following from Richard Soderholm:

 THOMAS HAROLD MILLEN was 85 years old when he passed on September 19th, 2014. Tom battled cancer for 20 years. Although he himself was battling cancer, he used this experience to ease others fears, especially those with a new diagnosis. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Janet Millen who passed on January 31, 2013 and his eldest daughter. He was the father of nine children, grandfather of 23 and great-grandfather of four. He was also one of eleven children, is survived by Rudy Millen (FL), Clarice Kovala, Jerry Millen (NY), and Larry Millen. Tom was born and raised in Detroit, attending St. Benedicts High School in Highland Park. In 1954 he graduated from the United State Naval. Tom was a Vietnam Veteran and a retired Commander of the United States Navy, where he proudly served for 26 years. He went on to work for Ford Motor Company for 20 years. He was welcoming and willing to spend time, lend tools, and share his talents with others. Tom enjoyed sharing stories and making memories with everyone that passed by, whether it was the gardener, garbage men, family, or friends. There will be a memorial mass at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 467 Fairford Rd, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236 on Saturday November 1st at 4 p.m.
