Death of a Classmate - Gordon G. Koops - 10th Co.


Lt. Col. Gordon G. Koops (Ret.), 85, of Jacksonville, Ark., passed peacefully Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014. after a long life filled with love and respect from his devoted wife, children, grandchildren and friends. A native of Long Island, New York and a graduate of the Naval Academy, "Pete" became a pilot for the USAF, traveled the world and served his country with honor and valor for decades. After retirement, he continued his career as an engineer, educator and a strong advocate for the conservative issues facing his beloved country. Koops is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lois; son Gordon E. Koops as his wife Deborah, daughter Marie C. Brave; son Daniel A. Koops and his wife Rachel; and daughter Amy L. Shoemaker. His four grandchildren include Cicely and Robert Brave, Donald Lee and Robert Shoemaker all from central Arkansas. Rest in Peace, Pete. You were the best husband, dad, grandpa, warrior, hero, mentor, friend, protector and generous provider. You never missed an opportunity to show your love and pride and we're all so honored to have had you as the solid rock in our lives.
