Death of a Classmate - James Gouge (non-grad)


James Daniel Gouge, 85, passed away on Jan. 16, 2015 at his home in Longmont. A memorial service celebrating James' life will be held at: New Creation Church, 8th and Bross, Longmont, CO on Saturday, January 24, at 2:00 P.M. James was born January 5, 1930 in Dayton, Ohio to Horace Ezekiel Gouge Sr. and Lucy Adelaide Leach Gouge, into a family of 11 children. After graduating from Fairview High School in 1947 he joined the USMC and served 3 years during which time he received an appointment to the US Naval Academy. He married shortly afterwards, requiring him to leave Annapolis. He took an engraving job as draftsman and worked in the Engineering Dept. at Rocky Flats Atomic Plant in Boulder, Colorado under Dow Chemical Co. After leaving Dow Chemical he was hired by IBM in the Engineering Dept. and worked there 30 years until his retirement in August of 1991. James attended New Creation Church for many years. He is survived by his wife, Helen P. Gouge; his sons Robert (Jackie) Gouge of Delaware, David (Sharon) Gouge of Lyons, Peter (Sandy) Gouge of Fruita; step-children Bobetta (Mason) Young of Colorado Springs, John (Lyndee) Kobobel of Westcliffe and Robin Kobobel of Longmont; and numerous grandchildren and great grand children. He was preceded in death by a wife, Doris Ravillious; a son James Gouge Jr.; and a daughter Susan Gouge; his parents; 5 brothers; and 6 sisters. Jim will be remembered for his love of family, love of his church, love of the Military (Marines), and love of growing roses.
