Death of a Classmate - Robert Wilmer - 11th Co.

Robert R. Wilmer died on Friday, January 9, 2015. Bob graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy on June 4, 1954. He earned his wings in jets the following year and at that time he married the love of his life. They would have celebrated their 60th anniversary in June 2015. Bob had a successful naval career. He served in Viet Nam, commanded a navy fighter squadron, and was Commanding Officer of the JRB New Orleans. Bob retired as a Navy Captain in June 1984. He spent his retirement years earning an MBZ, volunteering at the Naval Aviation Museum, and Christ Episcopal Church. He was a devout Christian and loved his church. Bob leaves behind his wife, Mary Sue; and two sons, Rob and Jeff. Jeff is married to Amy, our wonderful daughter-in-law. They have given us three gorgeous granddaughters, Cara, Kylie and Lydia. Bob also has two surviving sisters, Peggy and Mary Ann.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 11 AM at Christ Episcopal Church in Pensacola, FL. Interment will be January 14, 2015 at Barrancas National Cemetery at 9:30 AM with full military honors. Condolences may be made to the family at www.oaklawnfunerals.com.
